Happy New Year Postcard

There was a time that people often sent each other greetings like this Happy New Year postcard. The imagery includes sunshine, happiness, good fortune and mushrooms. Mushrooms have thrown me a bit. I’ve seen a variety of different stories about folklore and mushrooms from male fertility to strength and courage.

A golden cornucopia is full to overflowing with horseshoes, mushrooms, golden coins and a 100,000 moneybag.  Hearts decorate the golden cornucopia and four leaf clovers complete the message of good luck. A golden sun peaks from behind the clouds to complete the message of good wishes for the recipient.
